How do I locate my QuickBooks Company File?
Option 1 - Your QuickBooks company file is On a local Windows computer
With your QuickBooks Desktop account open, click on "File" at the top navigation panel and point to "Open Previous Company File".
This will show you the most recent company files that you have opened and used. If you see a "C:||" in front of the company file that you usually use, this means that the file is saved in your local drive, and that you have direct access to it.
Option 2 - Your QuickBooks company file is On a remote Windows-based server
If you do not find your Company file under Option 1, go back to QuickBooks Home and click on "File" again. This time select "Open or restore Company..."
Anew window will pop up on your screen. The "Open a company file" option is already selected for you, just click on the "Next" button.
This will usually take you immediately to the default folder where your QuickBooks company file is located. note the first letter of the File patch of the file you want to work with.
